We welcome new patients and look forward to serving you. Our new patient checkups typically take about 30-40 minutes for patients with moderate needs. During your first visit to our office, we will start by greeting you and getting to know you! Dr. Fu will ask about your medical history, current medications, and dental concerns.

Capturing 3D Images (optional): At Three Stones Dental, we may utilize state-of-the-art craniofacial CBCT technology rather than 2D imaging to capture high-quality 3D images of your oral structures at low-dose radiation exposure (similar to traditional panoramic 2D x-rays). CBCT scans uncover hidden issues, including early tooth decay, soft tissue issues, cysts, bone loss, or other oral health concerns. They also provide information for implant treatment planning, airway analysis, and TMJ 3D anatomy, which traditional 2D x-rays cannot produce. We also offer imaging services to other medical and dental patients as prescribed by their physicians and specialists.

Dental X-Rays and Intraoral Images: We take images of your oral structures with our ultra-low dose digital X-ray using advanced Sirona Schick 33 sensors. We also capture amazing dental pictures using our industry-leading mini intraoral cameras. Dr. Fu will share the information with you, providing a valuable means for you to understand your dental health and allowing us to create prompt treatment plans.

Physical Exam: Your new patient exam includes a thorough evaluation of the health of each one of your teeth, including the condition of any existing restorations. Next, we check your gum health to detect signs of early periodontal (gum) disease. We also record measurements of the spaces between your tooth and gum, a practice known as periodontal charting. The data we collect serves as a baseline we refer to in upcoming visits.

Oral Cancer Screening: An important component of your visit is a potentially life-saving oral cancer screening to rule out any signs of abnormalities. Early detection and treatment of oral cancer offer the best chance of a positive outcome.

Dental Cleaning: During your initial checkup, we may also conduct a professional dental cleaning to remove plaque and tartar deposits to lower your risk of tooth decay and gum disease.

Next Steps: We conclude your exam by creating a custom treatment plan outlining immediate restorative needs and recommended preventive procedures. In a nutshell, we get to know you, learn about your oral health, check for any concerns, and compile a baseline of your oral health.
